Homework
homework for this year is as follows-- (Montessori philosophy discourages loads of homework)
1st grade = 15 min independent reading or being read to... this can be longer if the child is enthusiastic.
2nd grade = 20 min reading an appropriate level book. Most words should be known. This builds confidence.
3rd grade = 30 min reading doesn't have to be all at one time. 15 and 15 is great. longer is fine, as long as it is child initiated.
If your child needs or wants more to do at home here are some suggestions:
1. addition, subtraction flash cards,
2. khan academy math (2nd and 3rd only for now, most know their passwords)
3. journal entries
4. exercise
5. Montessori ipad apps (stamp game, place value, ...)
6. or just talking about the school day.
